Ver 26.04 (Desktop)
Released: 14/10/2026
New Features
Purchase Orders - Copy Item
You can now copy a line on a Purchase Order instead of entering it again. Open the Purchase Order, right-click the item in the items grid and select Copy Item. The copy is added to the same Purchase Order and selected, ready to edit (see How to Copy an Item in the Purchase Orders Tutorial, and Item Fields Explained in Purchase Orders).
The copy includes:
- The description, code, specification and notes.
- The quantity, unit and weight.
- The unit cost, adjustments and totals, including the tax amounts.
- The links to the material, Account, asset, Work Order and Sales Order.
The copy does not include the received quantity or the received, issued and invoiced dates, so the copy is always a new line with nothing received yet.
Any unsaved changes on the Purchase Order are saved before the item is copied. Copy Item is unavailable on a read-only Purchase Order.
New Layout - Light - Bezier
A new layout, Light - Bezier, was added under Help > Layout. It is now the default for new users, and users who never chose a layout.
If you already chose a layout, it is kept. To switch, select Help > Layout > Light - Bezier.
The Help > Layout menu now shows a check mark next to the layout you are using:
- Light - Bezier
- Light - Regular
- Light - Compact
- Dark - Regular
- Dark - Compact
When you select a different layout, you are asked to restart the application. If you click Cancel, your current layout stays selected (see Layout in Menus & Navigation).
Actions
Actions let your administrator add custom, one-click steps to the application, such as updating a field on selected orders or checking a rule before you continue. See Actions.
Where to Find Actions
| Screen | Where |
|---|---|
| Quotations | The Actions dropdown on the Quotation item screen (runs on the open Quotation) and on the Quotations list (runs on the selected rows). See Actions Button in Quotations. |
| Sales Orders and Work Orders | The Actions dropdown on the edit view (runs on the open order) and on the list view (runs on the selected rows). See Custom Actions in Sales Orders and in Work Orders, and Buttons Explained in Quotations. |
| Custom Reports | The new Actions button next to Output, and the right-click menu on the report results. Actions run on the selected rows. The Actions button appears only when the selected report has Actions. See the note at the end of Custom Reports: Turn BOS Professional Data into Business Insights, and Buttons Explained in Custom Reports. |
| Global Actions | The new Actions menu on the main menu bar. It appears only when at least one Global Action is Active. See Main Menu in Menus & Navigation. |
On the edit views, Actions are listed under a Custom Actions heading. After an Action runs, the screen refreshes, including its items, status colour and read-only state.
Every Active Action is listed. If you were not given access to an Action, running it shows "Access denied" and nothing is changed.
How to Set Up Actions
To set up Actions, you need the user setting Setups > Settings & Defaults - Access Allowed (see User Access).
The list shows the Pending and Active Actions. Filter by Module (and Report for Custom Reports) or Status, then click View. Double-click an Action to open it, and click Edit to change it.
- Steps: Each Action has a list of steps that run in order: Error message, Warning message, Confirm message and Execute SQL. A Warning or Confirm step lets the user cancel before the next step runs. An Error step stops the Action.
- Status: An Action runs only when its status is Active. New and copied Actions start as Pending.
- Users Access: Choose who can run each Action. Open Users Access from Menu, from the edit view's Actions dropdown or by right-clicking an Action, then move users between the Available and Selected lists. The arrow buttons save and move to the previous or next Action without closing the window.
- Copy: A copied Action is named after the original, followed by "(Copy)".
- Export and Import: Actions can be exported to a file and imported from a file, to move them between databases.
The SQL Template button in the SQL editor inserts Firebird examples for the Action's module:
- An update of the selected records.
- A call to a selectable procedure that returns a message.
- A call to a procedure that does not return a message.
The IDs of the selected records are passed as :IDS and the user as :STAFFID.
Inside an execute block, always write the parameters with the colon (:IDS, :STAFFID). Without it, Firebird reports Column unknown IDS. A procedure that has output parameters must be called with returning_values.
Products and Product Estimates - Parts Description
The D checkbox on Parts (in Setup > Products and in the Product Estimate) was replaced with a Desc dropdown:
- None: No line is added to the item description.
- Desc: The Part name, as before.
- Desc (Size): The Part name followed by its size, for example, Cover (210x297mm).
Parts that had the D checkbox checked now show Desc. When the description is regenerated, the Part lines now pick up changes to the Part name and size, unless that line was overridden (see Description and Notes in Estimating, Costings in Products, Description and Notes (tab) in the Product Estimate Tutorial and Parts in the Product Estimate Type Tutorial).
Enhancements
Access Denied Messages – Where a screen needs the Settings & Defaults access, the message now tells you where to grant it: "See Staff Setting > Setup > Settings & Defaults - Access Allowed" (see User Access).
Actions Dropdown – The Actions dropdown on Delivery Notes, Customer Invoices, Customer Credit Notes, Purchase Orders, Supplier Invoices, Supplier Debit Notes and Material Movements now groups its options under Copy and Actions headings (see Buttons Explained in Delivery Notes).
Performance – Screens and lists open faster, especially when the database is on another computer or reached over a network, because the application requests less extra information from the database when it loads data.
Fixes
Product Estimates - Copy Part – The Adjust checkbox on costing lines is now copied with the Part.
Product Estimates - Substrate Costing Lines – A Substrate costing line now takes its description from the Component, not the Component Item. The check for an overridden description also compares it with the Component description, so these lines are no longer wrongly treated as overridden (see Costing Types in Costings).
Stability on Shared Servers (Remote Desktop / Winflector) – The application no longer keeps running in the background, using CPU, after a user leaves. This problem could happen when:
- An email or HTML template had a
[without a matching]. - A ledger allocation, stock delete or bank statement import (OFX or Capitec) hit a problem it could not get past.
- The Windows session was logged off while a message, the email screen or the pages for adding a Part to an estimate were open.
The application now closes cleanly when Windows logs off, shows only one error message at a time and uses less memory the longer it stays open.
Email / SMS / Print All – These options now send or print only the rows shown in the grid (see Overview in Output).
Standard Estimating - Parts with No Size – A printed Part with a Width or Depth of 0 no longer gets a very large imposition (previously up to 133 000 up). The imposition is now 0 up, the imposition and cutting diagrams are cleared, and a warning appears when you click Next on a printed Part with no size (see Selecting Items on Estimates).
Standard Estimating - Large Impositions – Impositions over 500 up now show as a single labelled block, for example, "Labels - 1200 Up", instead of drawing every item (see Selecting Items on Estimates).
