Mobile App Inventory Tutorial

Overview#

The mobile app opens in a browser on a mobile device or desktop computer. It links to the same database as BOS Professional.

If you are linked to more than one database, you select one when you sign in.

Inventory provides a detailed overview of the materials an organisation currently holds in stock. On the mobile app, you can:

• Quickly search and access specific inventory materials.
• Monitor stock levels, material availability and specific storage locations.
• View product specifications, pricing details and real-time stock quantities.

Tap means tap the screen, or left-click with your mouse if you use a computer.

How to View a List of Inventory Items#

1. Sign in to the Mobile App.
2. Tap Inventory on the Tile Menu.
3. The list shows the materials that are also inventory items, each with its Reserved, On Stock, In Stock and Available quantities (red when zero or negative, green otherwise).
   • Note: The quantity labelled On Stock shows the quantity on order.
4. Use the search bar to find a specific item by its description, code, category, subcategory, location, quantity in stock or unit, or scan its barcode or QR code (see How to Scan a Barcode or QR Code).

How to Scan a Barcode or QR Code#

1. Sign in to the Mobile App.
2. Tap Inventory on the Tile Menu.
3. Tap the scan icon next to the search bar.
   • Note: The first time, allow the app to use your camera when your device asks.
4. Point the camera at the barcode or QR code and align it within the frame.
   • Note: Tap the flashlight icon to switch the torch on in poor light (only on devices that support it).
5. A checkmark confirms the scan, the scanner closes and the scanned code is entered in the search bar.
6. Tap the item on the filtered list to view its details.
   • Note: The scanned code is used as search text only – if no item matches it, the list is empty.

How to View Inventory Prices#

1. Sign in to the Mobile App.
2. Tap Inventory on the Tile Menu.
3. Enter the description or part thereof in the search block to find a specific item.
4. Tap the item on the list.
5. Scroll down to the Pricing section.
6. The Selling Prices appear as filled in on the Material's Costs & Prices tab, one row per unit, excluding (Exc) and including (Inc) VAT, with the quantity per unit (/Qty).

How to View Inventory Specifications and Instructions#

1. Sign in to the Mobile App.
2. Tap Inventory on the Tile Menu.
3. Enter the description or part thereof in the search block to find a specific item.
4. Tap the item on the list.
5. The Specification and Instruction sections appear below the item information, as filled in on the Material's Image & Notes tab.
   • Note: Each section only appears if it is filled in.

How to View Inventory Quantities#

1. Sign in to the Mobile App.
2. Tap Inventory on the Tile Menu.
3. Enter the description or part thereof in the search block to find a specific item.
4. Tap the item on the list.
5. Scroll down to the Inventory section.
6. These quantities appear for each location as shown on the right:
   • Reserved
   • On Order
   • In Stock
   • Available
