Statement of Financial Position Tutorial

Overview

A Statement of Financial Position, also known as a Balance Sheet, is a financial report that provides a snapshot of an organisation’s financial standing at a specific point in time. It summarises the company's assets, liabilities and equity, illustrating how resources are allocated and financed within the business.

  • The Statement of Financial Position is fundamental for assessing an organisation's financial health. It is typically included in financial statements prepared at the end of a reporting period, such as a financial year.
  • The structure of the Statement of Financial Position is based on the accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Equity.
