Form Designer Tutorial
Overview
The Form Designer is where the output templates are designed, for example, the Quotation and Tax Invoice forms you print and email.
💡These tutorials explain how to change a template, save or load a template file and add a field to a template.
How to Change a Template
Note
You need the QuickEasy Form Designer - Access Allowed setting.
- Open a document that uses the template, for example, a Customer Invoice.
- Click Output (button) > Preview and select the template, for example, Tax Invoice. Close the preview.
- Navigate to Main Menu > Setup > Form Designer. The template opens.
- Make your changes on the Design tab, and check them on the Preview tab.
- Click File > Save As… and select the template you are changing.
- Warning: Do not click Save before you have used Save As. It may save your changes onto another template.
- Click Save as you continue working. It saves onto the template you selected.
- Close the Form Designer, and preview a document again to check the template.
How to Save or Load a Template File
To keep a backup copy, or to move a template to another database, use an .rtm file:
- In the Form Designer, click File > Save to File… and save the .rtm file.
- Navigate to Main Menu > Setup > Settings & Defaults and click Edit... next to Output (Print, PDF, Email) > Output Templates.
- Select the Module, right-click the template and select Edit. To add a new template instead, click New, enter its Name and set its Type to External File (.rtm).
- Document Template = Click Load from File and select the .rtm file. The Uploaded checkbox is checked.
How to Add a Field to a Template
Info
The data tables in the Data Tree are the module's Data Pipelines. For what each one holds, see Output Data Pipelines.
- Open the template in the Form Designer (steps 1 to 3 above).
- If the Data Tree is hidden on the right, click View > Toolbars > Data Tree.
- Click the data table, for example, the one with the transaction's header details. Its fields appear below it.
- Drag the field onto the form, in the section where it belongs. It arrives with a label: click the label and press Delete if you do not need it.
- Drag and resize the field, and format it with the format toolbar.
- Check it on the Preview tab, then save it (steps 5 and 6 above).
